Schools that benefited in Matobo were Guardian Angel, Mbuso
Primary, St. Anna Primary and Tjewondo Primary, those just outside Bulawayo
were Hope Fountain Primary and Mguza SDA Primary.
The respective school headmasters were pleased with the good
quality of the furniture. Speaking on behalf of her school St. Anna head, Mrs.
Maphosa said,
“Many thanks to the Australian Government and the CNCVCT for the
support. The furniture is of a very good quality and looks very durable too.
The new equipment will certainly help motivate our pupils to aim higher.”
Two more handover ceremonies were held at Mguza SDA and Hope
Fountain Primary Schools. The CNCVCT was represented by Board Chairperson, Mr.
Siqhubumthetho Dube on both occasions. In his remarks, he urged the schools to
take very good care of their new equipment as it does not come very easily.
“I urge you all who have received this new furniture to ensure it
is well taken care of. In your homes, when you buy new household equipment I am
certain you go out of your way to ensure that it is looked after so that it
could last longer. I therefore advise you to do the same to your new gift given
to you by the Australians”, stressed Mr. Dube.
Speaking from his base in Canada, the CNCVCT Chief Executive
Officer, Mr. Collin Nyabadza took this opportunity to convey his gratitude to
the Australian Government for the wonderful support.
“I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Australians for
the faith they have demonstrated in our young organization as this marks the
second time in three years that they have funded us. A year ago they gave us
USD14 100 which we used to furnish five primary schools in Bubi Rural
District”, remarked Mr. Nyabadza. “The success of our programs depend on the
support we receive from various funding bodies”, he added.
He also paid tribute to supplier Vast Engineering for their sound
business ethics and principles and hoped the two institutions would continue
working together in the pursuit of helping the disadvantaged rural school
children of Zimbabwe.
Mr. Nyabadza however lamented the lack of a program vehicle for
his organization.
“We are a very proactive organization whose mission is to reach
out to very remote schools which have been neglected for a quite a long time
now. The lack of a program vehicle is certainly slowing us down in carrying out
our work. I am therefore appealing to well-wishers to bail us out with the
donation of a truck or funds to purchase one”, pointed Mr. Nyabadza.
